Two seniors from The Oakridge School have earned one of the top academic honors in the nation by qualifying as semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Annemarie Roos and Colin Skinner are among 16,000 students from across the country to earn the semifinalist designation, allowing them the opportunity to continue in the academic contest and vie for more than $31 million in scholarships that will be awarded this spring.

“We are tremendously proud of Annemarie and Colin,” said Head of School Jon Kellam. “This acknowledgment by the National Merit Scholarship Program reflects not only both students’ outstanding work ethic and dedication to academic achievement, but also the commitment and quality of our educators here at Oakridge who impact our students daily.”

The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants on the preliminary SAT in each state.
