Saturday, May 18 marked graduation day at The Oakridge School! Seventy-eight seniors received their high school diplomas in front of an exuberant audience inside the Student Activity Center.
Tushar Kohli was the Class of 2019 valedictorian. Anandi Barker was this year's salutatorian. Both addressed their classmates, sharing memories of their time together at Oakridge and encouraging them to seek their full potential while in college. The Class of 2019 earned more than $10.9 million in merit-based scholarships. While the graduates are heading to colleges across the nation, many will study in Texas - including Kohli and Barker – who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees at the University of Texas at Austin.
Head of Upper School Jim Andersen asked everyone to hold their applause until the end of the ceremony, but the joy in the SAC could not be contained. Proud family members and friends cheered after each graduate walked across the stage. "Congratulations, Class of 2019. You have made your mark as scholars, artists, athletes, and leaders. You will be missed," tweeted Head of School Jon Kellam after the ceremony concluded.
