Oakridge announces the promotion of two alumnae, Ashley Read and Kendra Griffin

Dear Oakridge Family,

I am excited to announce the promotion of two alumnae who have served in an interim capacity to permanent positions!

First, Ashley Read '05 has stepped in admirably as the Interim Director of the Early Childhood Center (ECC). As an Alpha and Omega, Ashley's knowledge of "The Oakridge Way" is unique. From her own time in the ECC, through her Oakridge experience, you would be hard-pressed to find a person who bleeds blue and green more true than Ashley. Her love and commitment to the school are infectious, and this has been evident in every interaction I have had with Ashley since I stepped on campus.

Over the past few months, Ashley invigorated the building with a warmth that has made the ECC a source of joyful bliss. Undoubtedly, Ashley is an exceptionally innovative educator, and I'm pleased to announce that effective immediately, Ashley will begin serving as Head of Early Childhood at the Betty Garton Early Childhood Center. "I am incredibly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the Early Childhood Center alongside such dedicated and passionate educators. Over my life as an Oakridge Owl, I have found the ECC to be a magical, welcoming environment that focuses on the whole child," said Read. "Moving forward, I anticipate a strong partnership with the faculty, students, and parents to continue creating a safe space where children are exposed to a variety of experiences that create a solid foundation for developing their full potential."

Second, Kendra Griffin has served exceptionally as the Interim Director of Communication, Marketing, and Alumni Relations.I have asked Kendra to take on an enormous role, and she has stood up to the task with mighty determination. As the school's "chief storyteller," Kendra has the ability to speak to not only how she experienced Oakridge as a student but also as a current parent and employee. It is rare in the independent school world to find Kendra's rare qualities, and her ability to communicate that story to many constituents has been unmatched. She has effectively managed the increased communication responsibilities of the office flawlessly and has worked tirelessly to increase our brand presence in the greater community.

I am excited to announce that, effective immediately, Kendra will serve as our Director of Communication and Marketing. "I'm beyond excited to lead communications and marketing at Oakridge, and I'm grateful for the trust the school has placed in me," Griffin said. "We have an amazing school filled with inspiring teachers, dedicated staff, and incredible students. Oakridge is a special place, and I'm thrilled to continue sharing Oakridge's story.

Please join me in congratulating these two wonderful people as they take on their very important roles at Oakridge.

Sincerely,

Matt Burgy

Head of School
