WFAA SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, Click to watch the segment

This past week was busy in the Upper School! Take a glance through the pictures and video to see some amazing student spotlights. College Advising had a massive turnout for their program “The Other Side of the Submit Button,” giving parents and students a chance to work with college representatives and learn more about the admissions process and how students are admitted, denied, or waitlisted. Our Drone Team brought home Competition Champion and Line of Sight Champion awards from the ARISE (Aerial Robotics in STEM Education) competition. The newest members to The Oakridge School National Honor Society were inducted, and the Varsity Girls’ Golf team brought home SPC 2nd Place, Runner-Up.

We are proud to announce that our musical The Drowsy Chaperone received a nomination for Outstanding Musical from Broadway Dallas. Ben Arledge was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor. The musical also received three Betty Buckley Award nominations. Daniel Bird and Lauren Scott are nominated for Excellence in a Lead Musical Role, and Landon Hodges for Excellence in a Supporting Musical Role.

AP Exams are just around the corner. All exam dates and times may be found on the May calendar below. All students in an AP class will either sit for the College Board AP exam or be given an AP equivalent final by the AP teacher during final exam dates.. Seniors attend each AP class until their exam or final is taken. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are required to attend their other classes after any AP exam each day.

SPC is hosted in the Ft. Worth area (including a few at Oakridge). All spring SPC athletes will be given excused absences to their classes by their coach roster. However, any student planning on attending a sporting event must have parental permission to miss classes, AND this must be conveyed to the office IN ADVANCE by 8:00 AM on the day. If this rule is not followed, the absence will not be excused and can hinder exemption status.
