Student Spotlight: Upper School Talent Show

Upper School had such a fun end to March with last Friday's inspirational speaker and the talent show that brought so much joy and laughter! April is underway, and we will start this first week with a holiday on Friday, April 7. There will be no classes, and the campus will be closed. Classes will resume Monday, April 10, as a B-Day.

Tuesday, April 11, will be the US Ring & Pin Ceremony. Parents are welcome to attend. The ceremony will be in the FAPH during US advisory, 9:50-10:30 AM. Juniors and Seniors will be in dress clothes (nice suits, dresses, or shirts and ties). All seniors receive their school pin on this day. Juniors who have a ring to be presented (if you ordered through Josten's we have those rings) will receive their ring on Tuesday. If you have purchased a ring through a different source, you must bring this ring to the US office Monday morning. Please remember that all visitors to campus must check in at the admissions office before going to the Fine Arts Performance Hall. If you already have your lanyard, you may proceed directly to the FAPH, but please have it visible before entering the building. If you do not have a lanyard now, allow time for check-in.

We are cruising through this final reporting period. The next grade check will be on April 12. Remember, this is the communication for parents and students from teachers about how class performance is progressing.. These checkpoints are not published on transcripts or report cards; this is just a snapshot of progress.

Tennis update:
Tanish Kothapalle, Cole O'Leary, Eva Kovachev, and Suhani Singh competed in the SPC Individuals Champs Tennis Tournament over the weekend in Austin.  Our athletes played some excellent tennis against a tough field of opponents.

Cole O'Leary beat his first-round opponent and advanced to the second round of the main draw.
Eva Kovachev won her first two rounds to advance to the semi-finals.  After losing to the #1 seed in the semi's, she ended up beating the #2 seed in the tournament to take 3rd place overall.  Way to go, Owls!

One Last Time
1 -Security Protocols: Per Mr. Burgy’s E-news last week, please remember to continue to support the upped security and current security protocols in place.
Students neglecting to adhere to protocols can lose exam exemptions or face disciplinary consequences.

We ask for you to support and reiterate with your child a few protocols that we want to keep strong. Students neglecting to adhere to protocols can lose exam exemptions or face disciplinary consequences.

  • Parents must report an absence for a day by 8:00 am.
  • Parents must report the need to dismiss early by 8:00 am.
  • All visitors to campus must check in at the Admissions office.
  • Students must sign in at the US office if they arrive on campus after 8:45 am.
  • Students must sign out at the US office if they are leaving campus before 3:15 pm.
  • Students must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to sign out; this permission is best sent via email by 8:00 am.
  • Emergency cases are the only acceptable reason for checking out early without the proper 8:00 am notice. Students are not allowed to sign out and go to lunch and return; we are NOT an open campus.
  • Students must have their assigned parking pass on their rearview mirror and parked in their assigned space.
  • Students must have a pass to be in the parking lot during the school day.

Thank you in advance for abiding by these safety protocols and supporting them.

2 - College Advising program: Have you ever wondered what happens after you hit the application submit button or how admission decisions are made? The admission process is ever changing. College Advising has the answer. Join this co-sponsored event and learn all about the college application process by participating in this mock experience as you are placed on a “decision committee”. As a group, you review all aspects of the application and determine how the candidates compare to the university profile to decide who should be admitted, denied, and waitlisted. What an insightful look into this process. Don’t miss it, register today! Please see the email sent, Wed March 22, from Kellen Lewis with the full day’s agenda.

3 - PROM (Jr & Sr) and AFTER PROM PARTY (Soph, Jr & Sr) are only 4 weeks away. The time is now to rent a dress/suit/tux to have on time. We registered this year for the school program at Jos. A. Bank and Men’s Wearhouse. If you rent or purchase attire for prom from these stores mention The Oakridge School!

Please click here to read all PROM/APP detail here.

Prom tickets and After Prom tickets may be purchased here.

Purchase deadline extended until April 14.

Parent Remind Hoot please join now. This is a great way to receive updates and reminders.
