Dear Oakridge Family,

On December 4, we conducted a scheduled lockdown drill as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff. I am pleased to share that the drill was a resounding success, earning high marks from our security consultant, who was on-site to observe and evaluate our procedures. Within seconds, our campus was successfully locked and secured, and the entire drill lasted only minutes. As this is the first time we have held a drill of this nature on campus with students present, I am very pleased at the result. We have made exceptional strides in securing our campus over the past 3 years, and this was the culmination of the hard work of many people.

Our consultant praised the drill as "excellent," noting the calm and efficient response from everyone involved. Faculty and staff demonstrated exceptional preparedness, and students followed protocols with focus and cooperation.

Lockdown drills are an essential component of our comprehensive safety plan, designed to ensure that we are well-prepared to respond to any potential emergency. By practicing these protocols, we build confidence, improve communication, and reinforce our ability to act quickly and effectively. They are not easy, and they are not fun. However, they are a necessary and unfortunate aspect of the world we live in today.

Thank you for your partnership in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness at Oakridge. If you have any questions about the drill or our safety procedures, please do not hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude,

Matt Burgy
