Dear Oakridge Family,

This past week, we observed Veterans Day on campus in a variety of ways. It’s a day that personally means a great deal to me, as I am the son of men and women who served to preserve the freedoms we share. This week gave us the opportunity to come together in gratitude to honor the service, sacrifice, and courage of the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces. This day reminds us of the invaluable contributions veterans have made to protect the freedoms we hold dear, and it’s an important opportunity for our students and community to reflect on the values that align closely with our school’s mission: mutual respect, personal integrity, and social responsibility.

At Oakridge, we believe in nurturing compassionate, responsible individuals who will go on to make a positive difference in the world. Our veterans exemplify these values in their dedication, resilience, and selflessness, providing powerful examples of service and courage for our students. Today, and throughout the year, we have the chance to learn from their stories, and to honor those who have dedicated themselves to defending the principles of justice and peace.

As we reflect on the importance of celebrating this day, let us take a moment to recognize the strength of spirit and character that veterans bring to our communities. May their legacy inspire each of us to lead with honor and to seek ways to contribute meaningfully to our society.

Warmly,

Matt Burgy
