Dear Oakridge Family,

As the first week of school comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the excitement, energy, and promise that has filled our school. This week has been a beautiful reminder of why Oakridge is so special—our storied history, our vibrant community, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead. To say that our first few days have been “electric” is an understatement!

I have spent my first 2 years on campus on a “listening tour,” paying close attention to what has been said, and observing what we do. I wanted to know what makes Oakridge tick, understanding the context from which this storied place has been born from. What has been evident from the beginning has been a genuine earnestness from our humble beginnings, and a zeal to look to the future. I’ve asked the questions, “Are we who we say we are,” and “Do we do what we say we do?” These questions have guided our journey, and I have a new question for this year, “What Might Oakridge Be?” As we enter a year in which we are renewing a commitment to a strategic plan and preparing for our 50th anniversary in 4 short years, I am honored to stand upon the shoulders of those who have come before us.  I could not be more excited for what the future holds for this amazing school!

For 46 years, Oakridge has been a place where excellence is not just a goal but a tradition. Our history is filled with stories of students who have gone on to achieve great things, educators who have inspired generations, and a community that has always come together to support one another. This rich legacy is the foundation upon which we continue to build, and it is something we celebrate every day. We’re doing the little things to honor that past- even bringing back our original Kelly Green as a part of our brand!

But as we honor our past, we are also inspired by the future—by the question of "What Oakridge Might Be." This is more than just a question; it is an invitation to dream, to innovate, and to imagine a future where our school is not only a beacon of academic, artistic, and athletic excellence but a leader in nurturing creativity, compassion, and global citizenship. Our commitment to these values inspires hope and a sense of purpose for the future. What might Oakridge be in the years to come? It will be a place where every student feels seen and celebrated for who they are. It will be a school where curiosity is encouraged, learning is an adventure, and students are empowered to make a difference in the world. It will be a community where our students’ uniqueness is embraced, and collaboration is second nature—a place where we all work together to create an environment of personal integrity, mutual respect, and social responsibility. It will be a place where our mission guides every day and in every way. That is my commitment to you.

This week, we have already seen glimpses of what Oakridge might be. We have seen students excited to learn, teachers passionate about their craft, and a community eager to engage and grow. These are the seeds of something extraordinary, and each day, we nurture the potential of what our school can become.

As we move forward, let us carry this vision with us. Let it guide our decisions, inspire our actions, and remind us of the incredible impact we can have on our world. Together, we will continue to honor Oakridge’s legacy while daring to imagine and create an even brighter future.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. The future of Oakridge is as limitless as our dreams, and I am excited to see where this year will take us!

With Profound Gratitude,
