Dear Oakridge Family,

It’s hard to believe that in only one week, we will be headed off to Winter Break! We’ve had a wonderful first semester here at Oakridge, and I’m looking forward to an even better second semester as we ring in 2024! 

Last week, we celebrated a great success in our Oakridge Fund by hosting our Leadership Society at the Levitt Center. We achieved a participation record this year, and have raised over $450,000 for our school! We are extremely grateful for all the gifts of time, talent, and treasure that we receive, and I’m excited to announce one more exceptional gift.

If you remember, we renovated the Student Activity Center and Gym Floor over the summer. Many constituents came together to fund this, including the Owl Fan Club, the OPC, and a portion of the proceeds from last year’s Oakridge Fund to fund this necessary renovation. In addition, the school submitted for a grant from the Amon G. Carter Foundation to fully fund the work. Earlier this week, I received word that we had been awarded a $75,000 grant from the foundation to finish off our campaign! I bring this up to not only have us thank the Foundation, but to also remind us of the importance of participating in the Oakridge Fund. When we ask for foundation funding, the most important number that I give to that foundation is our Oakridge Fund participation number. The higher the participation, the greater the chance that we receive a gift from a foundation and the higher the amount will be to support our needs. It is the single greatest vehicle to school innovation, and it is essential to our school’s continued financial health and sustainability. 

We have one week left to continue our momentum in selling raffle tickets for our BMW lease! If you haven’t done so, please consider purchasing a ticket (or 10!). 100% of those proceeds go directly into our classrooms!  I am grateful for our continued sponsorship and support from BMW of Arlington!
