Matt Burgy, Head of School
October 12, 2023
Dear Oakridge Family,
Each day, I wake up proud to be our Head of School. There are many reasons that I am able to feel this way, but this week has been the epitome of “why.” If you have not been to a performance of our choirs or orchestras, you are simply missing out on some of the most talented young people I have ever had the opportunity to cross paths with. It’s not merely the melodies they sing or how they harmoniously blend their instruments. These are all beautiful artistic impressions in and of themselves. Instead, our mission is fully on display in a performance. In both performances, I saw a fantastic student, a talented artist, and an accomplished athlete on stage. Yet, those students, artists, and athletes were one in the same and represented across the entire stage. I saw our National Merit Semifinalists, a Commended Scholar, an AP Scholar, a likely valedictorian and salutatorian represented. I saw a SPC Champion swimmer, a golfer, a running back, a point guard, an outfielder, a middle blocker, a setter, a defensive specialist, a midfielder, a sweeper, and a goalie on stage. And I saw all of them singing and playing in unison, in a state of becoming the best version of themselves and fulfilling our mission of inspiring students to seek their full potential in academics, the arts, and athletics.
Next week marks our final week for the Oakridge Fund. If you have not done so, please participate in joining Team Oakridge. We are nearing our goal of 100% participation and need your help getting there! Doing so helps us continue to provide a signature experience where your child is able to not only develop the skills they need but also demonstrate that learning for all to see and enjoy!
I hope you all have a restful Fall Break.
Go Owls and Rangers!
