Dear Oakridge Family,
I want to highlight something special during Fine Arts Night next Friday, May 10. We are excited to welcome new families to our Oakridge community, and they will join us on campus for Fine Arts Night. You'll easily spot them by their name tags and divisional ribbons. As seasoned members of the Oakridge family, I know each of you will warmly welcome our new families when you see them. Whether it's striking up a conversation, offering assistance, or simply sharing a smile, your friendly gestures will go a long way in making them feel at home. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to fostering a welcoming community at Oakridge.
This week, I will have a message takeover from my friends in our Middle School Faculty- Clint Allen and Alexander Frasier.
Enjoy!
Matt Burgy
Bonjour, Hola, Nin hao, Salve, Konnichiwa, Guten Tag, Hello. Each one of these languages represents a story that our current sixth graders had a chance to tell this week during our Ambassadors of Culture Day. Forty sixth graders were asked to imagine living life outside the United States, specifically in a country they chose to do their project on. They were tasked to research what life would be like, design an idea for a trifold board and create a digital story telling board using an app called ThingLink. Each element of the project helped our students excel in ways that they didn’t even imagine. Once they completed their work, they then were tasked to share their story with others about their personal journey by giving a speech in front of their peers and ultimately in front of The Oakridge School.
We are so proud of the work they did, the commitment they made to their project and the results of an amazing Ambassadors of Culture Day in the Middle School. If you didn’t have a chance to join us this week, feel free to click on this link to head to the digital storytelling page to learn more about each country through the eyes and experiences of our sixth graders. Au revoir, Adios, Sayonara, Auf Wiedersehen, Dag, Antio, Good bye and thank you for celebrating our Ambassadors of Culture project.
