Matt Burgy, Head of School

Nov. 18, 2022

Dear Oakridge Family,

Last week, I had the privilege of attending a performance by our 3rd and 4th-grade students in advance of our busy week celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday. I was awestruck by many things, but I was exceptionally impressed with our students' confidence in performing. Not only were their voices clear and well projected, but they stood in unison, sending a clear message to the audience- we should have a "gratitude attitude." It made such an impact on me that I have spent each day since then letting someone know how grateful I am for them.

Today, I want to express my gratitude to you. Thank you; thank you for choosing me to serve this wonderful community as its 4th Head of School. When I embarked on this journey almost two years ago, I never could have imagined the warmth and kindness I encountered at Oakridge, and I could not be more excited to lead it into our next era. In the 150+ days I have spent on campus, I have found this wonderful place magical in so many ways. Many schools have mission statements that laud. Few live into that mission, as well as Oakridge lives ours. I am grateful for your partnership and for entrusting us with the noble task of helping your children grow into the best version of themselves.

I hope you and your family are able to spend the next week with one another, expressing our gratitude for the many great things we do for each other every day. A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Go Owls!

Warmly,

Matt Burgy

Head of School
