Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School

September 22, 2023

Greetings, Middle School Families,

I am so excited to announce that we had our first round of Student Council elections for Class Presidents and Student Activity Chairs. All the candidates ran great campaigns and spoke with dignity and poise. You would have been incredibly proud of these young scholars, who all demonstrated leadership. After several close races and run-off elections, here are the results of the Oakridge Middle School 2022-2023 Student Council Elections:

  • 5th Grade President- Mantaaj Sandhu
  • 5th Grade Student Activity Chair- Savannah Haynes
  • 6th Grade President- Quattro Miller
  • 6th Grade Co-Student Activity Chairs- Lea Martel and Lucas Wong
  • 7th Grade President- Tenley Bauer
  • 7th Grade Student Activity Chair- Elle Macready
  • 8th Grade President- Landon Holland
  • 8th Grade Student Activity Chair- Sydney Wallace

In addition to our elections, our Middle School scholar-athletes have demonstrated tremendous improvement and sportsmanship on the field and court. This past weekend, the Middle School Blue Volleyball Team went undefeated,12-0, winning the Gold Championship at the 2023 Fort Worth Christian MS Tournament. We are truly proud of these young ladies and this amazing accomplishment.

Spirit Week and Homecoming are right around the corner, October 2 -6. We have a full week of dress up days, a pep rally, and a parade. (As a reminder, mums are not worn at school.) It will be an exciting week, and we hope your family can attend the parade and football game.

Finally, each year, from September 15 to October 15, we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. We recognize and celebrate the culture and contribution of American citizens of Hispanic descent. In 1968, President Lyndon Johnson established Hispanic Heritage Week, until it was expanded into Hispanic Heritage Month by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. Find out more information about upcoming events at hispanic heritage month.gov.

Warm Regards,
Tamika Dees
