Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School

August 25, 2023

Greetings, Middle School Families,

We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do! We've Got Spirit, How About You?

The energy in Middle School has been electrifying. As we started our week with Patent Night, it was a joy to see our parents navigate their child's schedule and learn about "All Things Middle School." During this process, we all learned to be patient, flexible, and resilient.

The First Day of School was nothing short of amazing as well. Our students were prepared and ready for this new, fascinating adventure. This week, students met with their Grade-Level Deans, where they learned about their Dean's role and expectations. Our Deans will support students as needed and help create an environment where learning flourishes. During Owl Council, we discussed the importance of positive deposits, filling buckets, and being organized. A few ways that our parents can partner in this endeavor is by asking your child a couple of questions:

(1) How did you fill someone's bucket today?

(2) How did someone fill your bucket today?

We plan to continue this dialogue throughout the year as we create a challenging and nurturing environment where our students feel a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Please note that morning drop-off is at the flagpoles for everyone. Fifth and sixth grade will pick up at the MAC Porch each afternoon. All field hockey and cross-country athletes will be picked up near the Lower School playground. All football players will be picked up at the MAC Porch, and volleyball athletes will be picked up at the front of the school, at the flagpoles.

Finally, Middle School picture day will be on Tuesday, August 29. Parents will receive an email with information to order pictures from our photographer, Shine Portraits. You can also purchase your new Oakridge gear from the Owl Fan Club and sign up to become a member of the OPC. Remember, we are better together.

Let's Go Owls!
