Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School
May 3, 2024
Greetings, Middle School Parents,
On Saturday, April 27, Baylor inducted its 2024 Talent Identification Program (TIP) scholars. These 7th-grade students were identified as having exceptional academic ability and outstanding ambition to learn at a high level. Baylor TIP scholars are connected with college-level learning opportunities at Baylor, including a one-week residential program in their chosen area of study during the summer. This year, students Saahir Desai, Quinn Martinez, and Tobe Whoba were inducted into Baylor TIP, with Saahir Desai receiving special recognition as a Gold Scholar. We are so proud of our students!
The Ambassadors of Culture Day was an amazing experience for all students and families involved! Forty sixth graders embarked on a journey where they imagined life as a teenager in the country they chose to explore. They were tasked to research what life would be like, design an idea for a trifold board, and create a digital storytelling board using an app called ThingLink. Each element of the project helped our students excel in ways that they didn’t even imagine. We are so proud of the work they did, the commitment they made to their project, and the results of an amazing Ambassadors of Culture Day at the Middle School. If you didn’t have a chance to join us this week, feel free to click on this link to access the digital storytelling page where you can learn more about each country through the eyes and experiences of our sixth graders.
Finally, the Seventh Grade Class Trip was amazing! We explored historic landmarks including a guided tour of the Texas State Capitol and the Mayborn Museum at Baylor University. It was an unforgettable experience!
The trip's highlight was our Austin Duck Tour Adventure, evening sunset bat watching cruise, and the ropes and challenge course. It was a perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year!
