Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School
September 13, 2024
Greetings, Middle School Families,
We are super excited for the change in the seasons and the much cooler temperatures. However, what I love the most about this time of year is watching our middle school scholars play four squares in the quad, swing on the tire swings at the playground, and enjoy the joy of observing kids being kids. According to the American Journal of Play, children having an opportunity to engage in play is vitally important in adolescents' mental and physical well-being.
Our 5th graders experienced the great outdoors this week on their first Middle School class trip. We started our day bright and early at 7 a.m. and traveled to Trinity Forest Adventure Park in Dallas. On the bus ride to the park, seeing students socializing, laughing, and interacting with their peers and teachers was refreshing.
Once we arrived, students were divided into groups and completed four activities, including team building, rock climbing, and free play. The students were so courageous, encouraged one another, and worked as teams to accomplish different tasks. However, the trip's highlight was ziplining through the breathtaking adventure park and experiencing nature at its finest. To say that the students had a blast is an understatement.
Finally, our fall sports teams are having an exciting year. We’ve been able to cheer on our Field Hockey, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Football teams. Please join us at the games to support our student-athletes as they demonstrate heart, resilience, and grit on the court and field.
