Greetings, Middle School Families,

In the Middle School, we are firm believers in experiential learning. We believe that true learning happens not only in the classroom but should be relevant to real-world experiences. According to the Center for Teaching and Learning, experiential learning is the process by which students learn by doing, and have an opportunity to reflect on how their learning in the classroom applies to the real world. This week students have enjoyed learning how to use text features in nonfiction literature, how to calculate the tip when eating at a restaurant, and how chemical reactions affect everyday objects.

The STEM Showcase was absolutely amazing, featuring over 40 impressive entries from middle school students. The range of topics was incredible, showcasing the diverse interests and creativity of the students. From exploring the complexities of statistics to discovering innovative ways to create energy, there was something for everyone. Other highlights included a fascinating project on the "5-second rule" and bacteria, a deliciously healthy twist on cupcakes, and a brilliant self-watering plant design that blended science with sustainability. Each entry demonstrated not only the student's deep understanding of STEM concepts but also their ability to apply them in fun and practical ways. It was truly an inspiring event that left everyone excited about the future of science and innovation.

Student council also did a phenomenal job hosting the annual Middle School talent show. Students in Lower and Upper Houses showcased a plethora of talents including singing, playing the piano, original skits, and ballet. We were all taken away and so proud of their willingness to perform in front of their teachers, family, and friends.
