Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

November 1, 2024

Dear Lower School Parents,

I love Halloween candy. I love the Pixie sticks, the gummies, the little orange pumpkins that taste like candy corn. It is all delicious. The problem is, I also hate going to the dentist and paying for dental work. So, it is good that Halloween is behind us. Now we can move on to more important holidays, like Thanksgiving.

Gratitude is our word of the month. Being thankful is such an important life skill. Studies show that people who practice grateful attitudes are more positive and more successful at achieving personal goals. They have closer relationships, greater happiness, and more enthusiasm. Each November, Lower School works together to build our annual thankful list. It usually takes a while to get in the spirit of thankfulness, but by the end of the month we have a long list of wonderful things we enjoy and appreciate. Older students and visitors get a kick out of reading our thankful list, as well.

Our first month of Let Grow was a tremendous success. Over one hundred students did something new by themselves! We celebrate their growth and look forward to November’s challenge, which will be sent home next week.

Enjoy your weekend,
Sarah Schecter
