Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School
September 20, 2024
Dear Lower School Parents,
Next Friday, September 27, is our next home football game against Houston Christian. The theme of the game is Let’s Glow Owls! The first 200 fans to arrive at Parvin Stadium will receive a glow wand and glow necklace. The evening will begin at 6:30 when all students are invited to run through the tunnel ahead of the football team. Come dressed in your best neon/glow outfit as one student from each division will be chosen as the Super Glow Fan! The game begins at 7 p.m. Halftime festivities include a glow dance party and a dot race. There will be a glow photo booth, face painting, and glow-in-the-dark cotton candy available for purchase at the concession stand. It will be fun to see our school glow with school spirit! We hope to see you there!
Last Thursday we were honored to enjoy some beautiful music from our friends at the Van Cliburn Foundation. Students learned about the life of Van Cliburn, a local hero, who inspired several generations of musicians. We were especially impressed with the pianist who awed all of us with her talent in performing several difficult compositions that were Van Cliburn’s favorites. The camera gave us a bird’s eye view of her fingers moving quickly and accurately across the keyboard. It was an inspiring program.
It is kind of early in the year, but we have already had several children out due to illness. To help keep our students and staff as healthy as possible, please follow these basic guidelines:
-
Students/Staff with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher must stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications (e.g., Tylenol or Motrin).
-
Students/Staff who have vomited, either at home or at school, should not return until they have been emesis-free for 24 hours.
-
Students/Staff with diarrhea must remain at home until they have been diarrhea-free for 24 hours.
-
Frequent handwashing is essential in preventing the spread of illness.
Don’t forget to send your Fort Worth Stock Show entry number to Mrs. Levisay. Go to FWSSR.com to register. Once registered, you will see a number Mrs. Levisay needs to complete each student’s artwork submission. Those are due today, so she can deliver them next week.
Sincerely,
Sarah Schecter
