Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

September 13, 2024

Dear Lower School Parents,

As your evenings and weekends fill up with soccer games, piano lessons, homework, birthday parties, and family gatherings, your time with your children is often lost. Although all of these activities are good, time with you is the most important and valuable inheritance you can give your child. Whether it is time together reading a book at bedtime or going on a walk, time with you is irreplaceable. When I think about my time as a parent of first through fourth grade children, I made plenty of mistakes. However, I am thankful for the evenings and weekends I played Headbands, jumped on the trampoline, shot baskets, rode bikes, made cookies, or just invested in them. It may require saying no to a few things to have time for the best thing.

Your children have quickly established successful routines for the new school year. Most students are on time, prepared, and eager for each new day. In Parliament they are great listeners, at recess they play well together, at lunch they chat and also get their lunch eaten. The new students are making new friends and settling in, the first graders have learned their way around Lower School, and the fourth graders are establishing themselves as leaders. Thank you for all of your support these last few weeks. Things are off to a great start!

Every year the due date for entry in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo art contest is earlier! The contest is in January, but the entries are due in September. Early next week, you will receive a letter including the title of your child’s artwork, which you will need in order to complete registration. Registration must be completed online by parents. On completion of your online registration, you will see your child’s entry number. By Friday, September 20, send your child’s entry number to Mrs. Levisay via email or you may return the completed paper form to school with your child. Mrs. Levisay will record the entry number on the artwork and transport the artwork to and from the stock show. Sorry it is so complicated.

Sincerely,

Sarah Schecter
