Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School
September 6, 2024
Dear Lower School Parents,
Our third graders started their year learning about the history of our school. They enjoyed hearing stories and seeing pictures of the early years at Oakridge with Mr. Kellam. They thought it was funny that the Upper School was once in a house over on Meadowbrook Drive! The main theme of the day was gratitude for the beautiful school we all enjoy due to the hard work and commitment of the many good people who built The Oakridge School.
Thank you to all who made it out to our first football game. The crowd was big and spirits were high as we won the game 62 – 21. It was great to see so many Lower School families. We sent a Fall sports schedule home last week or you can access team schedules on the parent portal. It is fun to support our older owls in athletics.
Our word of the month is Self-Control. Self-control is important because it leads to many good things, like better decision making, security, lower levels of stress, greater health, better social relationships and happiness. Recent studies also show that people with self-control are seen as more powerful and better leaders. We want all of this for our students and ourselves, so we are dedicated to working on self-control.
Sincerely,
Sarah Schecter
