Dear Lower School Parents,

Tonight is our first home football game. You may think these games are for our Upper School families. At Oakridge, Friday Night football is for everyone! Our Lower School students enjoy running around with their friends, playing on the sport court and playground (built with them in mind), and eating snacks from the concession stand. Some Lower School students even sit in the stands and watch some of the game. The weekly themes for Varsity home games this year make it even more fun for everyone. Tonight the theme is Beach Bash, so put on your Hawaiian shirts and flip flops and join us at 7:30!

We had a great first full week of school. Our word of the month is “Citizenship.” Every couple of weeks, the Lower School meets for Parliament in the MAC gym before the day begins. Parliament (the term for a group of Owls) is the Lower School version of a brief family meeting. We talk with the students about upcoming events, our word of the month, and sometimes we have a guest speaker. Our first Parliament of the year was Tuesday morning. Our guest speaker, Mrs. Lori Lane, talked with the children about being good citizens in the Oakridge community. It was a good reminder for all of us to go the extra mile to make Oakridge a strong and joyful community of learners.

Carpool in the morning and afternoons is going well. Thank you for doing your part to keep traffic moving.
