Dear Lower School Parents,
On Tuesday fourth graders enjoyed a trip to Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth. It was interesting to see how things were in Texas over 100 years ago. The village features about a dozen actual buildings from the 1800’s and hundreds of artifacts, as well as a working blacksmith, woodworker, weaver, mill, and hands-on area. The guides were dressed in period clothing and were able to answer all of our questions. Best of all, museum personnel were impressed with our students’ great questions and respectfulness.
Our Living History Program for all of Lower School is coming soon. Each year, Mr. and Mrs. Adams travel from Kansas with their mobile museum and spend three weeks teaching Lower School students. This year we will be learning about the frontier and westward expansion, including the mountain men era.
Our Valentine's Day parties are next Friday, February 14 at 1:45. Students may wear pink, red, or white for this festive occasion, and parents are welcome to attend.
Most of you have already signed up for a conference. If you haven’t, it is not too late. If you are unsure how to sign up or you missed the email, please contact your teacher or Mrs. Butts.
Our students have been working hard in Spanish. You are invited to watch their class play (Los Tres Cerditos or Galinna Pequeña) live or we will post a video of each performance on SeeSaw to be viewed in the comfort of your home. All of the plays begin at 8:00 a.m., so you can be on your way by 8:30. The schedule is posted here for your convenience.
Sadly, we have had a lot of sick kids this week. To help slow down the spread of all the things, please see the school guidelines for when to keep your child at home.
Warm regards,
Sarah Schecter
Head of Lower School
