Dear Lower School Parents,

It was special to have our kindergarten students come over on Tuesday for Preview Day. It was interesting to hear the children’s takeaways from their visits to the next grade level. Kindergarteners are excited about having their own desks next year and how big the cafeteria is, whereas, fourth graders came back from their visit to Middle School talking about their lockers and the skill it takes to use a combination lock. All of the students were mostly enthusiastic and maybe a little nervous about what next year holds.

Many Lower School students have an art piece on display at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. If you want to peruse our entries, visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History sometime in the next three weeks. 

Spelling bees make me so nervous. Perhaps because I am not a good speller and I do not like much attention. To combine the two things together for a public spectacle seems awful to me. Yet many Lower School students are thrilled to be on stage spelling increasingly difficult words. As I spell the words in my head with each student, I usually miss a word by the third round or even earlier. I’m certain my blood pressure spikes continuously even as I simply watch the yearly spelling bee. Thank goodness our Lower School contestants did so much better than I would have done. I am proud of their spelling and composure on Thursday. It was a challenging competition to the end.

Our Lost and Found is full of jackets and coats! If your child is missing one, please come by and check. On February 14, there will be a uniform resale. Any unclaimed uniforms in Lost & Found will be donated to this sale.
