Dear Lower School Parents,

Winter is here in full force, as we look forward to another semester of learning. The children came back from the break with eagerness to see friends and be together again. I heard about some fun presents, trips, and time with family. Everyone seems refreshed and ready to go, except maybe a few parents!

Before the break, fourth graders had class spelling bees to select the students who would represent Lower School in our school wide bee. Our five winners are Adam Hemani, Lockland Richardson, Ashwariya Shah, Rachel Van Buren, and Violet Waldo. A Lower School student has not ever won the Annual Scripps Oakridge Spelling Bee, but maybe this is our year. If you want to come and support our spellers, the bee will take place on January 16 at 8:30 in the Fine Arts Performance Hall.

Remember on January 14, we have a special day for all of Lower School to get a sneak peek at the next grade level called Preview Day. If possible, try to avoid appointments or missing school on Tuesday, January 14 from 8:15 – 9:15 a.m. We hope no one will miss this opportunity to get excited about next school year!

Please take a moment to consider friends, neighbors, and work associates that would be a good fit for Oakridge, then invite them to our Oakridge Live event on  January 29 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. This event is designed to give parents and students a taste of the Oakridge experience in action. We welcome all interested families to attend.
