Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

January 27, 2023

Dear Lower School,

It was an exciting week in Lower School. On Tuesday, Mrs. Wall spoke in Parliament about Lunar New Year celebrations. The children were so interested in hearing about this holiday. On Thursday, Mr. & Mrs. Tu brought food for the students to sample at lunch. We were able to taste some special treats that are served on Chinese New Year. In fact, they brought so much food that we were able to share with the middle school too. We enjoyed college shirt day, an impressive STEM Showcase, and the lion dancers’ performance in the Quad today. Everyone had a grand time!

The Book Fair was a great success. Our volunteers did a super job of decorating, displaying, and helping everyone find a good book. Lower School students loved the lighted runway in the hallway leading them into the library. No wonder Oakridge students love to read!

Next Tuesday, January 31, we will have Move-Up Day from 8:45 – 9:30 a.m. This is a special time when students get to visit the next grade. They will meet all the teachers and get a glimpse of what the next year holds. Even our fourth graders get to spend some time upstairs with Middle School. So be sure to ask your children for a full report on Tuesday evening!

Best regards,
Sarah Schecter
