Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

April 19, 2024

Diffendoofer Day is always delightful. This year was no different. The variety of topics and speeches was interesting and unique. It is rewarding to see how much the students grow in their ability to communicate effectively in front of their peers. Of course, some students have a natural knack for public speaking and some really don’t enjoy the process, but all are getting better and more comfortable with it each year. That is the goal.

A secondary goal of Diffendoofer Day is for children to learn more about their classmates and perhaps even make some connections created by common interests. That happened this year, too. Students were able to showcase trips, pets, holidays, heroes, hobbies, and favorite foods. It was a treasure trove of information.

We sent a Remind text last week about Field Day t-shirts. They are not required, but if you would like one for yourself or your child, they can be ordered here. The last day to order is April 26.

First and third grade students will be screened for hearing and vision later this month. Parents will be notified of the results if professional follow-up is necessary. If you prefer not to have your child screened, please email Nurse Kim by April 24.

Have a great weekend,

Sarah Schecter
