Dear ECC Families,

Halloween week is the perfect week to discuss how we “can be silly together.” The students enjoyed giggling with one another and having fun. Students practiced turning silliness off and on as there’s a time to be silly and a time to focus.

Community Helpers: One of our objectives in the ECC is to show our students that they belong to a greater community and that there are grown-ups who keep them safe. On Wednesday, we welcomed a visit from Firefighter Cody Cheek, the parent of Spencer in Preschool. Firefighter Cheek showed our students his firefighter gear, discussed fire safety, and read the book Big Franks Fire Truck. Students even demonstrated stop, drop, and roll. It was a wonderful experience for all. Thank you, Firefighter Cheek!

Food Drive: The Oakridge Food Drive is November 1 – 15. For many years, we have partnered with Mission Arlington to collect non-perishable food for our neighbors in need. Canned food, peanut butter, tuna and boxed macaroni and cheese are suggested items. Your child can shop in your own pantry or choose some items on your next trip to the grocery store. This is a good way to teach your child to think of others and to be reminded what a blessing it is to have plenty of food. Please drop off items during morning and afternoon ECC carpool.

Fall Showcases: The students are only one week away from their Fall Showcase performances. Showcases are an integral part of our public speaking initiative. Students will showcase what they have learned in terms of rhythm, singing voices and performance skills. Parents and loved ones are invited to join and be in the audience.

1st Tuesdays: Mark your calendars for our monthly 1st Tuesday on November 7 at 8:15 a.m. Special guest, our school counselor, Mrs. Novoselsky, will be joining us to discuss big emotions in young children. She will add context to why children respond the way they do and tips and tricks as you navigate through this stage of parenting.
