Dear Families,

The ECC students have been working on practicing intentional R-E-S-P-E-C-T. We have all heard the golden rule: "Treat others the way you want to be treated," which this week has centered around. Respect is not just about manners but also about understanding and valuing the feelings and boundaries of others. Listening attentively when others speak, using polite words such as "please" and "thank you," and treating others with kindness and empathy are a few ways that we practice respect.

Kindergarten Walk to the Future: Wednesday, May 1st, marks an exciting day for our Kindergarten students as we celebrate our annual Walk to the Future event. Throughout the spinal road, from the softball field area up to the main campus near the glass bridge, students, faculty, staff, and loved ones gather to commemorate the growth and learning that has occurred in the ECC and to anticipate the future of their journey at Oakridge. We warmly invite all families to join us for this special occasion!

Field Day: ECC and Lower School Field Day will be hosted on May 10 and we would love for you to join us as we cheer on our athletes. We sent a Remind text last week about Field Day t-shirts. They are not required, but if you would like one for yourself or your child, they can be ordered here. The last day to order is TODAY, April 26.

ECC Field Day details:

  • Date: May 10

  • Location: Oakridge Athletic Complex (OAC) across the street on the football field

  • What should my child wear? Either the purchased Field Day t-shirt or:

    • Preschool: wear yellow

    • Pre-K: wear green

    • Kindergarten: wear blue

    • All students should wear athletic bottoms and tennis shoes. Please consider putting sunscreen on your child before school.

    • When do the events take place?

      • ECC Field Day Parade on the OAC Football field/track will begin at 8:45 a.m.

      • ECC Field Day events will occur from 9:00 - 9:55 a.m.

      • You are welcome to take your child home following the events, or he/she will be bused back to the ECC for 11:30 dismissal.

April and May at the ECC are filled with various activities. To stay organized, we encourage you to take some time to add important dates to your family calendar. As a reminder, there are a few places you can find important information:

  • Review the save-the-dates at the end of this email
  • Read Remind text messages
  • Review your child’s Seesaw account, where the teachers post important lesson plans/weekly bulletins, and pictures from the day, and Mrs. McGee adds reminders about upcoming events
  • During carpool, snap a photo of the whiteboard outside Mrs. McGee’s office

Sincerely,

Ashley Read
