Dear Parents,
“We encourage each other.” It's been a week of high fives and cheers! We've all been pushing each other to persevere, even when things get tough. That spirit of teamwork was evident at the Preschool and Pre-K Spring Showcases. The young stars gave their all, and a big round of applause goes to Coach T for producing and working such incredible showcases.
Boosterthon:
Next week, we invite you to join us for the Boosterthon Fun Run. Boosterthon is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Oakridge Parents’ Club. ECC parents are asked to create an account then share the link with family and loved ones who can donate a flat fee or amount per lap. Click here to create your child’s account. On April 4, each grade level will travel to the OAC to run laps around the track. Each lap results in money raised based on donations. You are invited to join us for the Fun Run! See flyer below for more details and class run times.
What to expect on Solar Eclipse Day, April 8, at the ECC:
It is exciting that The Oakridge School will be in a prime location to witness this historical event - a total eclipse of the sun! According to NASA, the solar eclipse will begin its partial eclipse phase at around 12:20 p.m. in DFW. Totality is set to begin around 1:40 p.m. CDT and last until about 1:44 p.m. before completely ending around 3:00 p.m. Other than during the brief totality, looking directly at the sun without proper eye protection is unsafe. Special-purpose solar filter glasses, or “eclipse glasses,” provide eye protection. Due to the ages of our Early Childhood students, and out of extreme caution and protection to their eyesight, ECC students will remain in doors between the hours of 12:20 p.m. and carpool. Students will watch a live stream of the eclipse in the “Big Room” and their classrooms. We will provide students with eclipse glasses to wear during afternoon carpool. Additionally, students will take part in solar eclipse lessons and activities in their classes. We are excited to be part of this historic event and know that it will be a lasting memory for our ECC students.
Sincerely,
Ashley Read
