Dear Families,
“We help each other” has been our focus this week. We put on our “helper binoculars” during morning announcements (picture the Big Room filled with 88 of our tiniest friends with their hands to their eyes pretending to wear binoculars) so that we could look around to spot opportunities to help others. Sometimes the binoculars landed on a piece of trash that we could pick up, or an opportunity to hold the door open, or maybe a friend needed help carrying their backpack to their cubby. We discussed that to be a good helper you have to look for chances to help others.
Re-enrollment: The 2024 - 2025 re-enrollment season is upon us. Last week, you should have received an email inviting you to re-enroll your child(ren) for the upcoming school year. Please be sure to complete the re-enrollment process as quickly as possible as we will be offering enrollment to potential new families in the coming weeks. Should you need any re-enrollment assistance, you can email our technology team at reenrollment@theoakridgeschool.org.
Book Fair: The Oakridge Book Fair is one of my favorite, annual events at our school. We are so grateful for the OPC and the many many selfless volunteers whom hosted this event to raise money for our fabulous school library. Parents and students from all four divisions were joyful and excited as they shopped for books.
Junior Buddies: The Kindergarteners were all smiles on Wednesday as they welcomed their Junior Buddies to their classrooms. The Juniors and Kindergarteners worked together to create a snowman craft. The Junior Kinder Buddy Program is a unique approach to connecting both sides of campus while allowing Kindergarten students the chance to be mentored and loved by an older student. The Juniors are always engaged and happy working with their buddy and it brings true joy to our hearts watching them collaborate.
Class Valentine’s Parties: The Room Parents have sent out the Sign Up Genius links and information pertaining to the Class Valentine’s Party via Seesaw. Whether you are able to join us at the actual party or not, please consider signing up to send an item with your child to ensure the party is a success. The Preschool Class parties will be hosted at 10:00 a.m. on February 14 and the Pre-K and Kindergarten parties are at 1:00 p.m. on February 14.
A note from Nurse Kim: To prevent the spread of illness, it is important to keep your child home when sick. If your child has any of the following influenza-like symptoms, please contact Nurse Kim for further guidance before sending your child to school.
-
Fever of 100.4° F or more
-
Headaches
-
Sore Throat
-
Chills
-
Cough
-
Tiredness
-
Achy Body
-
Vomiting and/or Diarrhea
If your child has any of these symptoms when it is time for school, it is best that they stay home. Students who have vomited may not return to school until they have been emesis free for 24 hours. Students who have diarrhea may not return to school until they have been diarrhea free for 24 hours. Thank you for helping us keep your child and everyone else as well as possible.
Oratorical Showcase: Calling all student voices! The DEIB Faculty/Staff committee proudly presents the first annual Oratorical Showcase. Express yourself through speech, poem, song, or prose on the themes of community, culture, and celebration. Applications are now open! Don't miss your chance to take the stage and claim your spotlight! Apply here
Sincerely,
