December 6, 2024

Dear Families,

This week, students imagined having a large soap bubble surrounding their bodies. We all require personal space to feel safe. We talked about how sometimes our bodies want to move, and we unintentionally invade others' space. However, it is our responsibility to be mindful of our bodies and movements. Respecting our personal space and that of others creates a safe and comfortable environment. We've all heard the saying, "We keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves," and that was a focus this week along with, “I have my space; you have your space.”

Holiday Treasures, December 9 - 13:

As a young child, shopping for my family members and the pride I felt in picking out the perfect gift for each person on my list brought a true smile to my face. I remember experiencing the art of giving first hand and was so proud of the unique gift I picked out and wrapped for each of my loved ones.

Holiday Treasures is a special tradition for many families at Oakridge. Holiday Treasures is a festive holiday shop where our Preschool - 6th grade students can pick out gifts for loved ones. Gifts range from $5  - $40 with the majority in the $10 - 20 range.  Next week, ECC students will have the opportunity to shop at Holiday Treasures. A shopping list came home via backpacks this week. This is not mandatory, however, traditionally speaking, the vast majority of our students do take part in shopping. You can make a list of who you would like your child to shop for, put a price limit next to it and a grown-up will partner with your child to find the perfect gift for each person on his/her list. Every ECC class has a designated shopping day and time. Click here to learn more about Holiday Treasures including: viewing a sample shopping list, a link to sign up to be a volunteer (Holiday Treasures volunteers are in high demand!), and view the shopping schedule.

Location: Oakridge Parents’ Club (OPC) Building

Winter Class Parties, December 19, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 Dismissal: The children are very much looking forward to our annual Winter Class Parties. We are so grateful for you all and your support to ensure these parties go off without a hitch. A sign-up genius link will be sent to you soon, if it has not already, asking for your participation in the class party. You can choose to help setup, supply a food or drink item, help with the craft and more. Your attendance is encouraged at the parties. If you are unable to locate the sign up genius link, please contact the ECC front office.

Festive Dress Days: During the week of December 16 - 19, all ECC students are invited to join in on the Festive Dress Day. Daily themes can be found on the flyer below.

What’s happening around campus?
