Dear Families,

There are many different ways that we can spend our time. At school, students will do many things that they want to do, but we will also do some things students may not like as much. We should always try to do what we need to do before we do the things we want to do. First needs, then wants. This week, students have been discussing that they will be given jobs to complete, but it will be up to them to use their time wisely. We are proud of our little Owls and their focus on using their time wisely to get their work done precisely.

Grandparents’ and Grandfriends’ Day, November 22: As a graduate of The Oakridge School, Grandparents’ Day holds a special place in my heart. After spending the morning showing my grandparents around my beloved school, taking part in presentations and games, my grandmother and I would always have lunch at Red Lobster. A core memory that will stay with me forever. “Grandparents make the world a little softer, a little kinder, and a little warmer.” We hope to see many of our ECC grandparents or grandfriends on Friday, November 22. Remember, it is 11:30 dismissal as well.

What’s happening around campus?

All School Canned Food Drive - November 5 - 22: Our annual food drive is underway for Mission Arlington. Upper School students are organizing this event for us. They have challenged ECC with collecting peanut butter, oatmeal, rice, mac & cheese, ramen noodles, and other canned goods. Thank you so much for helping your children select items and being generous with those in our community who are in need.

Notes from Previous Emails:

Speech Screening: Your child brought home a permission slip from Language Lions Therapy regarding a speech and language screening. This screening is a valuable opportunity for your child to receive an assessment of their speech and language skills. The screening will help determine if your child needs further speech and articulation work. The screening will be conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist and will take approximately 10 minutes. Please review the permission slip and return it to your child's teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or Language Lions Therapy directly.

Sincerely,

Ashley Read, Class of 2005
