Dear Families,
During week three in the ECC, students learned about “using magic manners.” We show others that our behavior sends a message by raising our hand, listening, or not talking while someone is speaking. Our behavior sends a message to people about the type of person we are. Our messages can be good or not so good. When we get into the habit of being kind to others, we are telling people we are a kind person. Good behavior choices take practice! The ECC students have been working on getting into the habit of sending good messages about ourselves through our behavior choices.
Books that support good behavior choices:
Please, Mr. Panda by Steve Antony
Just Say Please by Gina Mayer
What Pets Teach Us by Andrea Donner
Do Unto Otters by Laurie Keller
“Rain rain go away. Come again another day!” This week has been a wet, muddy and a somewhat chilly week, but it sure was a nice change from the 100-degree temperature! The students have been enjoying inside recess, yoga, mindfulness activities and sensory activities.
What is a sensory wall and why do we utilize them?
Sensory walls are imperative for young children because they provide a safe and stimulating environment for them to explore and learn. They offer a variety of textures, colors, shapes, and sounds that help to engage their senses and promote their development. Sensory walls encourage children to use their hands, eyes, and ears to explore and discover their surroundings. They also help to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, sensory walls can help to calm and soothe children, providing a sense of security and comfort. You can create your own sensory activities at home by adding in different textures and activities to your play spaces at home.
1st Wednesdays:
We had a great turnout for our first, monthly ECC 1st Wednesdays Chat. Over 30 parents joined in on the conversation around the ECC Calendar, OPC information, and a visit from Mrs. Novoselsky, our school counselor. Mrs. Novo shared information with parents about big emotions and how to navigate them at home. Join us on October 2 at 8:15 a.m. for our second 1st Wednesday gathering and parent education.
Best regards,
