Dear Families,
This week, students have focused on the importance of following directions the first time they are given. During our morning meetings, we reiterated the importance that we have rules to keep us safe. Sometimes it is hard to follow directions right away, but the more we practice, the better we will get.
6th Grade/Kindergarten Collaboration:
On Tuesday, a group of Oakridge 6th graders traveled to the ECC to spend time with our Kindergarten students. Over the past several weeks, 6th grade students took part in a Design Thinking Process. They studied our Kindergarten math objectives, designed math games that our students could play to practice those concepts, and brought the math games down for our students to explore. The collaboration culminated with juice and cookies on the playground. This was a true gift for both the 6th graders and Kindergarteners.
100th Day of School:
On Tuesday, February 11, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school in style! Please check Seesaw for a detailed message from your child’s teacher.
Preschool: Students will celebrate “100 Days Brighter” and are invited to wear neon or bright colors to school. They may also bring sunglasses to wear during the day. Additionally, each child was asked to collect 10 of the same item (i.e. cars, hair bows, rocks) and bring to school in the baggie that was provided by Friday, February 7.
Pre-K: Students will celebrate “100 Days Smarter” and are invited to wear school appropriate pajamas to school.
Kindergarten: Students are invited to dress as a 100 year old person.
*All students must wear tennis shoes.
Valentine’s Day Parties:
Join us on Friday, February 14, for our annual Valentine’s Day class parties. Party times and details are listed on the flyer below. A flyer containing your child’s classmates’ names was sent home via folders last week to help you write out Valentines for each friend.
A word from Nurse Kim: We appreciate your help in keeping our Oakridge Owls healthy! Please take a look at the following guidelines to ensure the well-being of our staff and students.
Best regards,
