Dear parents,

Our thought of the week was centered around, “We laugh with each other.” We laugh with each other, not at each other. Laughter brings people together, relaxes our bodies, and boosts our immune system. We are all familiar with the famous saying: laughter truly is the best medicine!

I find this time of year to be magical and busy. It is a magical time because of the growth that I see in each and every one of your children. Over the past year, your children have further developed their fine and gross motor skills, improved their problem-solving skills, and challenged themselves to think critically, to name a few. As a parent, I can relate to you all when you see the spring schedule and think, “Man there is a lot going on at Oakridge in the spring!” There sure is, but we made it and will have the chance to celebrate on the last day of school, which is right around the corner.

Junior Buddies:

The Kindergarten students enjoyed their last Junior Buddy get together. To help our Kindergarten students get excited about their move to the “Big School,” the Juniors met us at the Lower School playground, where they played with bubbles, created artwork on the sidewalk with chalk, raced around, and played on the swingset. The Kinder-Junior Buddy Program provides our younger students the opportunity to be mentored by older students and connect one side of campus to the other. Nothing brings me more joy than walking around the playground to observe a junior teaching a Kindergarten friend how to tie his shoes. Or, a Junior holding hands with a Kindergarten friend as they run through the soccer field.

Kindergarten Parents:

Lower School students in grades 1 - 4 are asked to purchase their school supplies. A school supply list will be provided over summer and parents and students can shop for the supplies. Or, to make it easy, our Oakridge Parents’ Club has a wonderful opportunity where you can pay a flat fee and the supplies will be delivered to your child’s classroom in August. If you would like to order school supplies from OPC for your children entering grades 1 - 4, click here. Please note, students entering grades Preschool - Kindergarten do not need to purchase supplies as the school provides them.

Sincerely,

Ashley
