Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

September 27, 2024

Dear Lower School Parents,

Tonight is our neon “Let’s Glow Owls” night at the football game. The festivities start at 6:30, the game starts at 7:00 p.m. You will find me eating glow-in-the-dark cotton candy as I work the face painting booth as a quality control manager. I also might be spotted in the halftime dot race. It promises to be a fun evening for the whole family.

Most Fridays I eat lunch with a group of twelve students. Each homeroom teacher selects a student to sit at the Head Table. I enjoy the interesting conversation, silly jokes, and an opportunity to get to know a few students better. I usually leave lunch with a good idea, a new perspective, or a funny anecdote. It is always a joy to be with your children.

As we finish our first full month of school, we continue to focus on Self-Control. On Tuesday we talked about the need for all of us, even adults, to improve our ability to be a good boss of ourselves. I shared a sad story about a person who did not use good self-control on a recent visit to Mac’s for Sunday brunch. Thank you for following up at home as you have the opportunity to talk about self-control.

 Sincerely,

Sarah Schecter
