November 22, 2024

Dear Families,

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, students have been focusing on caring for others. By bringing in canned goods or helping with the Turkey Toss, we are showing compassion and creating happy hearts in ourselves and others. Children 3-6 are naturally egocentric and compassion takes practice. Be sure to model it and create opportunities for your children to practice compassion for those around them.

Grandparents’ Day: Grandparents’ Day was a magical experience at the ECC. From the adorable photo booth, to the laughter you could hear coming from the petting zoo, and the classroom visits, the day was filled with memory-making. The grandparents were proud to show off their grandchildren and the students were even more proud to show off their school. We feel so blessed to have a community that celebrates family involvement.

Kindergarten Friendsgiving: In addition to Grandparents’ and Grandfriends’ Day, our Kindergarten students and their families took part in our annual Kindergarten Friendsgiving. Parents joined us to break bread and show gratitude towards one another and our amazing community. Thank you, parents, for making this day so special for our students.

Turkey Toss, November 25: Thank you for helping support those in need with our annual canned food drive. We hope you can join us on Monday, November 25 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. for our annual Oakridge Turkey Toss at Mission Arlington. The Oakridge Community will continue spreading gratitude and the heart of giving to those in need.

Festive Dress Days: During the week of December 16 - 19, all ECC students are invited to join in on the Festive Dress Day. Daily themes can be found on the flyer, below.

In the spirit of gratitude, on behalf of the ECC faculty and staff, I would like to thank each and every one of you for choosing Oakridge. Your children bring us joy daily. Over the Thanksgiving Break, we hope you can find time to relax, make memories, and trade out a piece of technology for a board game.

Sincerely,

Ashley Read, Class of 2005
Head of Early Childhood
