Dr. Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

September 4, 2026
Dear Lower School Parents,
It was a pleasure seeing so many Lower School families at last week's Friday night football game. As we move into fall, we are all looking forward to some cooler weather to enjoy these community events even more.
Our students have quickly embraced their new routines, making for a very smooth transition to the school year. For those new to Lower School, I want to highlight a special tradition called "Good News Notes." These are used by teachers whenever they witness a student demonstrating exceptional character or producing outstanding work. After a teacher completes a note, the student brings it to the office so we can celebrate their achievement together. The best part of the process is calling home to read the note to parents; I truly love seeing our students lead by example and make positive choices. It is heartening to share that, most weeks, I see far more students for these celebratory notes than for disciplinary support. I am thankful to work with such sweet children!
Last week you should have received information about Homecoming Spirit Week which will take place during the week of October 12-16. Click here to view the Homecoming packet which includes the daily themes and the run of events. We invite you to join us October 16 at 10:00 a.m. for the annual Homecoming Parade and hope that you will come back to the O.A.C. (Oakridge Athletic Complex across the street) for the football game that evening. Purchase Homecoming t-shirts by October 6, 2026. Proceeds from t-shirt sales go toward the fireworks show after the game. Students can wear their 2026 Homecoming t-shirt to school on Friday, October 16.
Warmly,
Sarah Schecter
Head of Lower School
