Dear Lower School Parents,

We are thrilled that this evening marks our very first home football game of the season. While you might assume these events are primarily for our Upper School families, at Oakridge, Friday Night Lights are truly for everyone! We would love to see our entire community in the stands at 7:00 p.m. Just before kickoff, our Lower School students will have the exciting opportunity to run through the spirit tunnel to help us get the game started.

We had a successful first full week of school. Our word of the month is Self-Control. Every couple of weeks, all of the students in Lower School meet for Parliament in the MAC gym at 7:50 a.m. Parliament (the term for a group of Owls) is the Lower School version of a brief family meeting. We talk with the students about upcoming events, our word of the month, and sometimes we have a guest speaker. Our first Parliament of the year was Tuesday morning. I talked with the children about practicing self-control. It was a good reminder for all of us to be our best selves every day.
