Welcome to Oakridge Fine Arts! Our talented, dedicated arts faculty are looking forward to spending every day inspiring, challenging, and mentoring your children this year.

Thank you for partnering with us as your child embarks on one of the most impactful aspects of their Oakridge education. When we look at the trajectory of our graduates, we see firsthand how deep engagement in the arts equips young people with the skills required to thrive as adults.

The Power of Self-Expression: Intelligence alone isn't enough; adults need the confidence to articulate their internal world. Whether standing at a podium, pitching an idea, or leading a team, students trained in the arts learn how to communicate with warmth, poise, and genuine human connection. They know how to make people listen.

Deep Empathy & Perspective: Portraying a character, interpreting a piece of music, or creating visual art forces students to step outside their own lived experience. This practice builds adults who can look at the world through multiple perspectives, process complex human emotions, and lead others with authentic empathy.

Internal Drive and Resilience: In a world built on instant gratification, the arts teach the rare discipline of long-term commitment. Whether our graduates go on to become performers or medical professionals, they credit their Oakridge arts training with teaching them how to work toward a goal without immediate praise or validation. They learn to show up day after day because what they do for the world is more important than personal glory.

Ultimately, our goal in the Fine Arts Department isn't simply to create professional artists; though some of our graduates achieve that every single year. Our true mission is to cultivate thoughtful, capable human beings who understand the world better, understand themselves better, and carry those strengths into whatever career path they choose.

How can you partner with us?

Believe it matters: Show your children, through your words and actions, that the arts are an essential pillar of their growth, not just something they are required to do.

Show up: We protect your family time and only ask for your presence at, most, three or four evening performances or exhibitions the entire school year. Making those few nights a priority sends a powerful signal to your child that their hard work counts.

Protect their confidence: Our words quickly become our children’s inner voice. Phrases like "that's just not their thing" can accidentally close a door forever. Encourage their effort and curiosity, no matter their initial skill level.
