Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School

May 22, 2026

Greetings Middle School Families,

As we come to a close for the 2025-2026 school year, we are grateful for all of the wonderful memories that were made this past year in Middle School. It’s really hard to believe that just several months ago we were celebrating with our Back-to-School Bash and welcoming our newest Owls. The energy and excitement that filled the atmosphere as we embarked on a new journey together was contagious!

As the year progressed, we enjoyed cheering on our sports teams, participating in choir and orchestra concerts, and performing in plays. During the fall semester, our Lower House students had an amazing time participating in team-building activities and exploring the great outdoors on their class trips. We eagerly anticipated our STUCO events which included clubs, Real World Fridays, and volunteering.

We also had a number of students who represented The Oakridge School in the state PSIA competition in San Marcos, TX, and ten students were awarded Baylor TIP scholars. Our Upper House students danced the night away at our winter and spring dances, made marvelous memories on their class trips to Tennessee and Arkansas, and had a blast at the end-of-year celebrations.

It has been an extraordinary and rewarding experience to serve as Head of Middle School. This year, I’ve witnessed students grow and develop by leaps and bounds. They are becoming confident, well-rounded leaders who are not afraid to think outside the box. They are bold and courageous when they speak, and are genuinely happy when their peers are recognized for achieving their goals. They don’t quit when things get hard, and are not afraid to do hard things. Whether on the field, the stage, or in the classroom, they always bring their A-game! And although the reality of life in middle school is that there were tough days and rough patches, I truly want to say from the bottom of my heart, “thank you,” for your support and encouragement as we continue to navigate this remarkable journey in the “middle.”
