Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School

May 1, 2026

Greetings Middle School Families,
On Saturday, April 18, ten of our 7th grade students were inducted into the Baylor TIP program in a special ceremony held on the Baylor University campus in Waco. Baylor TIP provides opportunities for academically gifted students that include summer workshops, extracurricular activities, and the potential for college credit and scholarships in high school.
As Dr. Todd Kettler, Baylor TIP's Director, said in a speech, "Induction into Baylor TIP is not simply the recognition of an achievement, but an invitation to increased rigor and challenge in the future." Our Oakridge Baylor TIPsters-- Ellis Carfa, Cambry Davis, Max Francis, Angelina Gonzalez, Harper Hooey, Mackenzie Hooey, Olivia Mirzaei, Anqing Pheng, Mantaaj Sandhu, and Andrew Van Buren -- have embarked on a wonderful academic journey, and we celebrate them!

- What to Return: The school-issued iPad and the original Apple USB-C charger set. (Families may keep the iPad cases.)
- Missed Collection: If your child is absent, please return the device to the Technology Help Desk or the Front Office no later than Friday, May 30th.

Summer Reading begins May 13!
Students in all divisions can check out a Bespoke Summer Reading Bag from the library. They’re welcome to pick their own books, or we can put together a selection for them.
Each bag will include a golden ticket for a raffle at the start of the school year. To enter, students can write one sentence or draw a picture inspired by something they read over the summer.
We’ll hold the raffle during the first week of school, with prizes like gift cards, art supplies, and more.
In July (date coming soon), students can return to the library to check out new books and decorate their bags. We’ll also have craft days, story time, special guests, and book-themed activities.
