Greetings Middle School Families,

In the Middle School, our Oakridge Owls never cease to amaze us with their curiosity, collaboration, and ability to lead.  Over the last few weeks, our students have been participating in “Club Fridays,” an initiative organized entirely by our Student Council representatives. This concept began as a council discussion and came to fruition as these student leaders formulated a solid plan:  proposed their idea for “Club Friday” to a panel, spoke directly to Oakridge teachers to obtain sponsorship, and cultivated an organized system for students to register to participate in a club. 

Middle School clubs include: coding/robotics, art/animation, debate, basketball, baseball, chess, board games, and book club. These clubs offer students more than just a fun advisory activity; they have opened opportunities for establishing connections, fostering interests, and pursuing passions.

In addition to this amazing display of leadership, the Middle School Kindness Committee took the time to embody the essence of their committee's foundation.  This group of students visited the Early Childhood Center (ECC) to participate in storytime, and conducted an art demonstration. This altruistic act of kindness built rapport between students in Middle School and the ECC, and encouraged community and a lifelong love of art and reading. 

It is truly heartwarming to see our Middle School students operate in leadership roles, as well as share their time and talents which is leaving a lasting impression on our youngest learners.
