Greetings Middle School Families,
In Middle School, we don’t just teach - we explore! We are firm believers in experiential learning, and that true mastery happens when the classroom meets the real world. According to the Center for Teaching and Learning, experiential learning is the process by which students “learn by doing”, allowing them to bridge the gap between concept acquisition and practical application through real-life experiences.
The STEM Showcase was electric! Featuring over 34 impressive entries, it was a buzzing display of the vivid curiosity and creativity of our bright young minds. The range of topics was impressive, showcasing the diverse interests and passions of our students. Our young innovators explored everything from the complexities of statistics to discovering innovative ways to create energy. Other crowd favorites included a scientific dive into the controversial theory of the "5-Second Rule" and bacteria, a deliciously healthy twist on cupcakes, an indoor tornado, and a brilliant self-watering plant design that blended botany with modern sustainability. Each entry demonstrated not only the student's deep understanding of STEM concepts but also their ability to apply their research through well-thought-out and captivating reflection. The future of STEM is bright and happening here in The Oakridge Middle School!
