Dr. Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

February 20, 2026

Dear Lower School Parents,

It has been a busy week, with many visiting students, a trip to Bass Hall for second grade, a Dragon Dance in the Quad to celebrate Lunar New Year, and a large group of Lower School Students representing our school this weekend at the Private School Interscholastic Association Academic Meet.

Students still have time to complete a Let Grow project. The assignment is not due until the end of March this time. I look forward to learning about and celebrating their growth and accomplishments! You may send a 4x6 photo that we can add to our display or we have a photo printer now, so you are welcome to email a photo to us.

Parent/Teacher Conference Day is February 27. Many of you have already signed up for a conference. If you haven’t, it is not too late. If you are unsure how to sign up or you missed the email, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Butts.

A Note from College Advising:

College Colloquium, Oakridge College Advising’s signature event, has been rescheduled and will now take place virtually on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. This program offers families and students a rare opportunity to hear directly from senior college admission leaders about today’s evolving admission landscape.

We hope you’ll join us!

Our students have been working hard in Spanish. You are invited to watch their class play (Los Tres Cerditos or Galinna Pequeña) live or we will post a video of each performance on SeeSaw to be viewed in the comfort of your home. All of the plays begin at 8:00 a.m., so you can be on your way by 8:30. The schedule is posted here for your convenience.

Warm regards,

Sarah Schecter
Head of Lower School

The Oakridge School presents a brand-new musical: String

String is an original, imaginative musical that brings the Greek Fates to life in a bold new way. Having been cast off Mount Olympus, the Fates are sent to Earth to continue weaving the tapestry of the universe—learning, along the way, what it truly means to be human. Through powerful music and storytelling, String explores fate, free will, and the threads that bind us all together. Join us for this exciting new musical and experience a story as timeless as myth and as human as now. ✨ Tickets: $10 (all sales online) Purchase tickets online!
