Dear Oakridge Family,

I hope you all were able to enjoy an extended break last weekend and have come back refreshed and ready for the final countdown to the school year! The time between Easter weekend and the end of school goes by in the blink of an eye. We began our “stretch run” last week, hosting our annual Senior Moms' Lunch (which I have been told by many moms should really be the “Mothers of Seniors Lunch” for obvious age-related reasons). It is one of our favorite traditions to have the moms of our seniors come together and reflect on their Oakridge journey with us and each other. Unequivocally, there was a sense of gratitude for what the journey has been, recognizing that the road may have been a bit bumpy at times.

For those in our younger grades who have yet to experience this tradition, the Senior Moms' Lunch is a poignant "full-circle" moment. It is a room filled with reflections on the unique journeys that began in ECC, or even just this year, and are now culminating in graduation. As these mothers share stories, we see the living proof of our mission: students who have been nurtured and challenged to become young adults of deep character and confidence.

The spirit of the lunch is one of shared history. Whether their children’s passions were found in academic excellence, on the stage in the arts, or on the fields in athletics, these families have walked the path together. Seeing the gratitude in that room reminds us all that an Oakridge education isn't just about the final grade, it's about the community that supports every step of the way.

As we enter this final countdown, we are reminded that the lifelong love of learning we aim to inspire is best viewed through the lens of these milestones. These final weeks are a celebration of the "stretch run" for every student, from our youngest Owls to our graduating seniors. We look forward to witnessing the continued growth of every student as they seek their potential in these closing chapters of the school year. Thank you for being part of the Oakridge story and for making this community a place where every journey is celebrated.

I will once again be hosting a “Mondays with Matt” on Monday, April 27, at 8:00 a.m. on the Bridge. I hope you are able to join us as we spend our time getting to know one another better and sharing a vision for the future of Oakridge. Please RSVP here if you are able to come!

Warmly,

Matt Burgy
