Upper School Families,

As I reflect on all of the things that make Oakridge special, there are so many things that come to mind. Becoming a division head was always something I aspired to do, but as I look around at the magic and wonder that is The Oakridge School I have come to understand that “My dream wouldn’t be complete...without you in it” (from The Princess and the Frog) I count myself so lucky to be part of this amazing community! Thank you to all of you who contribute to what makes this school magical and the place “where dreams begin!”

The Oakridge School presents a brand-new musical: String

String is an original, imaginative musical that brings the Greek Fates to life in a bold new way. Having been cast off Mount Olympus, the Fates are sent to Earth to continue weaving the tapestry of the universe—learning, along the way, what it truly means to be human.

Through powerful music and storytelling, String explores fate, free will, and the threads that bind us all together. Join us for this exciting new musical and experience a story as timeless as myth and as human as now. ✨

College Colloquium—Now Virtual

College Colloquium, Oakridge College Advising’s signature event, has been rescheduled and will now take place virtually on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 PM. This program offers families and students a rare opportunity to hear directly from senior college admission leaders about today’s evolving admission landscape. Whether your student is just beginning the college journey or actively preparing applications, this evening will provide clarity, insight, and confidence. Registration details coming soon. We hope you’ll join us!

AI in RL - US Colloquium, April 2

The theme for this year’s conference is AI in IRL (artificial intelligence in real life). We are asking students to explore what it means to be human and how our understanding of humanity and our ability to be fully human is affected by culture–specifcally consider the role of gender, race, age, cultural norms. While students from Oakridge and our sister schools will be presenting papers and projects in small breakout sessions, we will also host a panel of professionals led by student moderators. Our hope is that students will see the dynamism and innovation that AI requires of professionals as it changes our jobs in real time. This will be an academic day for US students and there will be a summative assessment through all English classes, so please make sure your student is in attendance for this unique event.

Have a great weekend!

All my best,

Dr. Amy Alsip
Head of Upper School
