May 1, 2026

Dear Parents,

This week's thought of the week, "I can do hard things," was certainly put to the test by our incredible Kindergarten students during their annual Walk to the Future and Spring Showcase. They bravely tackled public speaking, presenting their hard work and future aspirations in front of their junior buddies and families. Furthermore, they showcased their singing voices and stage presence, demonstrating confidence and perseverance in their performance. We are so proud of them and know they will do big things.

Next week is 1st Wednesday!

Join us on Wednesday, May 6, at 8:15 a.m. for our final monthly ECC 1st Wednesday. We will discuss the final weeks of school and all that the calendar entails. Additionally, we will view the summer calendar and what to expect for the 26-27 school year.

Friday, May 8: ECC and LS Field Day and Fine Arts Night

Be sure you have marked your calendars for May 8. It is a busy day on the Oakridge campus. In the morning, the ECC and LS will take part in Field Day events. That evening, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., we hope you will join us for the all school Fine Arts Night. You can see our artists in action. Gorgeous art projects will line the hallways, actors will take center stage, and our choir will perform. Bring your family and friends.

Owls’ Nest Update:

As we look forward to a fun and full day on Friday, May 8, with Field Day and Fine Arts Night, please note that Owls' Nest extended care will be available from 11:30 a.m. early dismissal until 3:00 p.m. only. Please be sure to send a lunch if your child plans to attend. For any questions you can email Marissa Desjardins Cox at mdesjardins@theoakridgeschool.org. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy the day’s events.

Summer Reading begins May 13!

Students in all divisions can check out a Bespoke Summer Reading Bag from the library. They’re welcome to pick their own books, or we can put together a selection for them.

Each bag will include a golden ticket for a raffle at the start of the school year. To enter, students can write one sentence or draw a picture inspired by something they read over the summer.

We’ll hold the raffle during the first week of school, with prizes like gift cards, art supplies, and more.

In July (date coming soon), students can return to the library to check out new books and decorate their bags. We’ll also have craft days, story time, special guests, and book-themed activities.

We hope everyone enjoys a summer full of reading.
