Dear Parents,

Throughout the past week, ECC students have been discussing how all people get mad, just like all people can feel happy or sad. All emotions are okay to feel, but not all behaviors are okay. There are right and wrong ways to show people how you are feeling. We control our anger, for example, by teaching our brain what to do with those feelings. If our brains don’t know what to do, our bodies take over. We might yell, run away, or throw things. Those are ways to show anger, but they are not the best ways to show anger. Your brain is in control. Our brain can control our emotions by taking deep breaths, counting to 10, or even Pizza Breathing (ask your child to show you Pizza Breathing).

Book Options:

  • Mean Soup by Betsy Everitt
  • Baby Sister Says No by Mercer Mayer
  • When Sophie Gets Angry - Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang
  • Peaceful Piggy Meditation by Kerry Lee Maclean

Kindergarten and Junior Buddies:

This week, the Kindergarten and Junior Buddies enjoyed their final get-together of the year with a special trip to the Lower School Playground. It was a joy to watch them play side-by-side, whether they were organizing a quick soccer game, climbing the monkey bars, or shooting hoops on the basketball court. The mentorship that has flourished between these two groups over the past year has been nothing short of sweet and genuine.

Notes from previous weekly emails:
